Yesterday we defined abundance as “an extremely plentiful or over sufficient quantity or supply.”

The question today is, what do you do with the extra influence that comes with abundance?

Some leaders underestimate just how much power they have been given and they fail to leverage it for the good of those around them.

There is an old proverb that encourages us to make the most of our opportunities.  It says, “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.” (Proverbs 3:27)  Sage words to live by.

As leaders we are surrounded by people who need for us to treat them right and make an investment in their lives.

Doing good for someone can be as simple as a word of encouragement or an offer to help on an important project.  It can be something larger, though, like a promotion or a raise.

A phone call to your parents, spending time with a child, a thank you to a friend, and a generous tip to a waitress also qualify.  The smallest of acts can lift up someone who is not experiencing abundance.

The key to remember is that you should use your abundance to bless others.  In the work place a factor to consider is, “Do they deserve it?”  If so, and it is within your power, then don’t hold back.

Great leaders are sharers.  They realize that they would never have made it to the top if it were not for the efforts of others.  And they recognize that there is plenty to go around when it comes to appreciation, affirmation, and compensation.

Who needs some good from you today?  You might not believe it, but you hold in your grasp the power to make someone’s day.  I dare you not to withhold it.
