Blog Time = Homework

Blog time! It comes every night, like clockwork. Same Bat time, same Bat channel. Cue the Boy Wonder, "Holy Smokes, Batman."

According to Charlie Wetzel, who ghost writes for John Maxwell, "Being a writer is like having homework every day for the rest of your life." Considering how I did in English class, growing up, it is a scary thought.

So why do it to myself? Because to quote Pastor Rick Warren's opening line from his bestseller, The Purpose Driven Life, "It's not about you."

Living life with the understanding that its not all about me is a good approach. Choosing to go selfish, on the other hand, leads to a lack of fulfillment.

Admittedly, showing up every day can be a pain. But only if you are thinking about yourself. Turn your attention to others and watch what happens. Homework can actually be meaningful, as crazy as that sounds.

There is a place where we need you to show up everyday and bring your best. Not for you, but for us. For your team, your family, your Tribe (to use Seth Godin's word).

Who knows? Homework time might just become your favorite time of the day.

I know blog time is for me.

Randy

Is there a place where you need to be more consistent in "showing up" every day?
