Coming or Going?

Irish author and poet, Oscar Wilde was famous for saying, “Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go."

Which category best describes you?  Would others rather see you coming or going?

If you want to maximize your influence, you must continually work on your people skills.

Let me suggest two places for you to start.  They are both found in the Bible.

The first is referred to as “the Golden Rule.”  It was a statement given by Jesus in Luke 6:31.  “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

If you want to win the hearts of those around you, just start leading others in the way that you would want to be led.

The second principle that will elevate your people skills is found in Philippians 2:3.  “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”

Forget about yourself and start valuing others, and I promise you others will be begging you to stick around.

If you want to “Win Friends and Influence People” you need look no further than these two commands from Scripture.

I bet even Dale Carnegie would agree.

I think Philippians 2:3 sums it up best. I know some people (myself included at times) have a hard time understanding it ain't all about me... Valuing others above self is key in work, family and life. There is nothing worse than seeing that person who you know 'sucks the life' out of you cause they want, need, and steal the best of you giving nothing in return. I personally try hard to not be that person... or anything near that.
A great leader values his employees more than himself, he knows he can't do his job, he can't be successful without them being successful. He doesn't ask anything he isn't willing to do, and shows his values to them. He is willing to get dirty with them when needed. He is the leader of a team, people working together.
And I agree... no more cat pictures 🙂
