Don't Let Someone Throw Water on Your Spark

Whenever someone is critical toward one of my goals, Mark Twain’s words serve as a great reminder for me: “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”

Yesterday, I had a conversation with a friend. His words were very encouraging, thus I walked away feeling good about myself, even though he did exaggerate.

Do the people around you “belittle your ambitions,” or do they, “make you feel that you, too, can become great?”

I can’t begin to count the number of times I have received courage from someone who is great, who chose to speak a word of encouragement. It is a large number.

But that number is not nearly as big as the number of times I have allowed someone small to throw water on my spark. Truthfully, fifty people can subscribe to my blog while only one clicks unsubscribe. Guess which one I think about the most? Hint: It is not the fifty.

Take a look at the people around your life. Are they big or small? The answer to that question reveals how big you are too.

Don’t allow ANYONE to steal your ambition!

Leadership Begins at Home,

Is it easier for you to listen to small people or great people? Why?

Great thoughts to chew on... Do I allow myself to be put down at times? Who are the people that build me up? How many times have I been the one incidentally bashing other's ambitions? Thanks for the thoughts to dwell on as I begin my day.
